Those of you who have been following this blog regularly will, by now, be beginning to recognize the work of Toronto-based artist Julie Voyce. Julie’s been feeling inspired by my recent subject matter and has been doing a series of drawings inspired directly from my content.

I recently wrote about the idea (and increasing popularity of) so-called “virgin waxing” — the process of waxing away emerging leg, armpit and pubic hair incoming hair on very young women. The idea is that if you get a girl waxing before her hair makes its full, troublesome appearance, you can dissuade it from ever fully growing in.

Well, Julie was inspired by the idea and drew this intriguing image — complete with what she describes as an “evil (hair) ripping hand.”

Sure – it’s maybe a little disturbing, but then, so is the trend…
